Nigerian Lady Celebrate Her Mentee Who Got A Job Before Defending His PhD Thesis

A Nigerian lady, and assumed mentor, identified on Facebook as Adeola Olubamiji take to her Facebook page to share the goodnews of her mentee named Omolayo Joshua Olorunwa, who got a job at Bayer as a plant physiology R & D Specialist III,while awaiting to complete his doctoral degree at the University of Mississippi.

Sharing a screenshot photo of what Mr.Omolayo posted on his LinkedIn page on her Facebook page, Adeola captioned the post;

My first mentee has landed a role before defending his PhD thesis! He started yesterday and I couldn’t be more proud of him.

I remember the first time he chatted me up on Facebook in 2017 as a fresh graduate from Nigerian university. We worked together to get him a Masters scholarship in the UK and PhD scholarships in the US and now we are both going to be doctors. I can not wait to call him Dr. Joshua! This is what pride looks like!

I didn’t know the gravity of this when I spoke to him 2 days ago. Until LinkedIn brought this to me this morning. My Joshua is about to be Dr. Joshua and working as Scientist III! During our pay negotiation, told him we can’t accept less than Scientist III and I am glad he listened. Let me tell you, you don’t need to start from entry level with a PhD! I remember convincing him to not be a professor a few years back. Yes, me made him point why he wanted to be a Prof but trust Dr. Addy to cast and bind the spirit of Postdoc out of him 😩.

My Lord, thank you for this determined, smart, calm, respectful and amazingly talented young man!

Not everyone will go to tech! I repeat not everyone will cross to tech! But wherever you are, get someone who will hold your hand and help you to maximize it. Oh yeah, we are starting as Scientist III and we got to that bag and received multiple interviews before selecting this one.

Education indeed is our compass to navigate the world and my boy again replicated this formulae and we are here! 5 years, 2 countries, 2 degrees and a new beginning.

To every Nigerian youth, your dreams are valid 🙏🏿!

Are you coming to the bootcamp? You too can replicate this formulae” – She said

Looking at the screenshot photo she posted, it can be seen that young man said that he is excited to be part of the development of biological products that will assist farmers in increasing yields, while reducing their environmental footprint.
