Program Description
The Vrije Universiteit (VU) Masters Degree Fellowship Programme (VUFP) is offered for a one or two-year Master’s level programme. The scholarship will only be available for the second year of the two-year Master’s studies if up to 100% of the credits in the first year study have bagged.
This is a golden fellowship program. The VUFP scholarship will see for the tuition fees. VUFP scholarship does not offer any additional allowance towards student study or living costs. The Faculty VUFP committee will be expected to show to the Central VUFP committee that the credits are well achieved. Students already enrolled in a two-year Master’s programme who have not been Given the VUFP scholarship are not fit to apply for the VUFP scholarship. This scholarship will only be awarded to a student once and is mainly intended for the Master’s level study programme for which it has been offered.
Program Eligibility Criteria for VU Fellowship Programme
The VU Fellowship Programme (VUFP) is set as a Merit scholarship programme which is open for strongly motivated students with very outstanding study results. You will be expected to meet the below criteria to apply into this scholarship;
- You are expected to prove your academic excellence with a GPA of not less than 80% of the highest possible academic mark.
- You are submitting application for the first year of a full-time program which is an English-taught Master’s programme to take place at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam beginning September of the coming year.
- You do not gain the Dutch nationality.
- The degree with which you are applying to get admission has not been gotten in the Netherlands.
- The VUFP scholarship can be offered for a one or two-year Master’s level programme. The scholarship will only be spread for the second year of the two-year Master’s studies if 100% of the credits in the first year study have bagged. - One VUFP scholarship will be kept specially for an applicant who formerly completed a semester or full academic cycle abroad at the VU Amsterdam through the Semester in Amsterdam program and is now Submitting application for a full-time Master’s programme to take place at VU Amsterdam.
When you are are submitting application as a Semester in Amsterdam alumnus or as an alumna, make sure to complete the regular application procedure and then you send an email to [email protected] to inform the staff that you have applied via VUnet to get a VUFP scholarship. Please let them know in your motivation letter that you formerly completed a semester or full academic cycle at VU Amsterdam through the Semester in Amsterdam program. Students who are not chosen for the scholarship reserved for the Semester in Amsterdam alumni can still be eligible for a regular VUFP scholarship.

A. Proof of your excellence / transcript, your GPA and grading scale
Please make Uploads of the transcript and grading scale of all the qualifying degree with a clear explanation of your CGPA calculation. Students who apply to get a VU Fellowship Programme are expected to have a GPA of at least eighty percent 80% of the highest possible/accumulative mark (calculated over complete previous degree or your present Bachelor’s degree).

- Decision
The Central VUFP Committee will make selections of which students will be offered a VUFP scholarship. All VUFP applications received by the 2nd of February 2023 will be judged by the faculty of the applied for Master’s program. Faculties will then nominate Candidates to go to the central scholarship committee,which subsequently offer scholarships to the most talented students. The award is given on the basis of your motivation letter, the quality of your former education and the applicant’s academic performance.
The Committee will be making a merit based selection. A scholarship award will be made to lucky candidates.
- Results
All students will get an e-mail or notification Letting each of the Central scholarships Committee’s decision regarding their application.Expected date: 1 April 2023 (8 weeks after the VU Fellowship Programme (VUFP) deadline).
- Acceptance of the VUFP offer or HSP offer
Selected candidates will be subject to acceptance/ rejection of the VUFP offer in VUnet. Deadline: 15 April 2023 (2 weeks after the VU Fellowship Programme (VUFP) results are published).
